Lead Water Service Line Replacement Program

The Village is pursuing state and federal funding to find and replace lead and galvanized water services within its water supply. Information on the service line material inventory and current lead water service line replacement project can be found at https://www.gettheleadoutil.com/midlothian.

Residents can use the above link to view the information the Village has on the material of the water service line that serves their property and can also sign up for an initial home inspection so that a representative from the contractor can provide details on how the replacement will be done at a particular home

The awarded contractor for the Year 1 project, Calumet City Plumbing Company, Inc. will be contacting residents in the Year 1 project area with mail and phone calls to set up an initial house survey after the homeowner signs a property access agreement. The project area map can be downloaded at: https://www.gettheleadoutil.com/midlothian, any red within the circles indicates a home known to have lead, which will be part of the first project. These homeowners should fill out property access agreements at: https://www.gettheleadoutil.com/midlothian as quickly as possible. This agreement is only for setting up an initial home survey so that a representative of Calumet City Plumbing can provide details on how the replacement will be done at a particular home. This agreement does not commit a homeowner to having their service line replaced.

The Village of Midlothian is pleased to announce a lead service line replacement project (Year 2), which will take place over the next year. This project will be wholly financed by the Public Water Supply Loan Program through the Illinois State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water. The lead service line replacements will replace the oldest water pipes in the Village that connect from the water main in the street to the building plumbing. This project will provide assurance of quality water and eliminate issues like leaks, breaks, and obstructions.

UPDATE ON YEAR 1 PROJECT: The funding for the Year 1 lead service line replacement project area is nearing depletion, but the contract is temporarily being extended through the end of the calendar year.
