Public Works Department

Public Works provides a wide variety of services spread over Street, Water, and Sewer Departments. Regular business hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Midlothian receives its water from Lake Michigan via direct lines installed in 1970. The Water Department monitors the pumping of 1.5 million gallons of water per day from the Edward J. Williquette Distribution Plant. This plant is constantly being upgraded with the latest in computerized technology to provide the best service possible.

Public Works also maintains 460,000 feet of sewer mains. Through the years improvements have been made to alleviate flooding and keep Midlothian higher and drier.

The Street Department maintains 60 miles of pavement. Routine street sweeping, tree trimming, and bi-annual branch pick-up are just a few of the many services offered.
