MIDLOTHIAN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Welcome

Welcome to the Midlothian Department web pages.  The Police Department is currently staffed by 24 full-time police officers, assisted by 6 part-time officers, 6 full-time civilian employees, and 1 part-time civilian employee, and 10 school crossing guards.  The Department is organized as follows: Office of the Chief of Police, Policing Services Division, Detective Unit, and Support Services Unit.  The Policing Services Division consists of three watches organized by time of day whose purpose is to accomplish our primary objectives: protection of life and property, prevention, and control of crime, conflict resolution, problem-solving, preservation of the peace and the apprehension of those who violate the law. The primary function of the Detective Unit is to conduct thorough investigations into reported criminal matters involving adults and juveniles.  The Support Services Unit is responsible for performing the Department's records and communications functions. 

The Police Department also provides community services including vacation house watches, elderly services, and child safety seat inspections.  The Police Department is a member of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, the South Suburban Mutual Aid Agreement, and the South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT).
