Midlothian Fire
Department
The first fire truck, a chemical engine built by American LeFrance on a Model T Ford chassis, was put in service on October 26, 1925. Today the Midlothian Fire Department has 3 engines, 1 truck, 1 heavy-duty rescue squad, 1 mini-pumper, 2 ambulances, 1 utility truck and 2 automobiles. The department began with volunteers, adding full-time firemen in 1974 so that by May 1st of that year there were three full-time firefighters on duty around the clock. Today the Midlothian Fire Department is made up of 16 full-time firefighters and 19 paid-on-call members. In 2000, the Midlothian Fire Department celebrated 75
years of service to the Village of Midlothian.
Whether it is at a fire scene or medical emergency, teaching CPR or a
class on babysitting, presenting a program on fire prevention or safety to a
local group or organization, conducting a tour of the fire station, or
simply providing blood pressure checks, the MFD is on duty 24-hours a day
providing various services for the residents of the Village of Midlothian.
