The Midlothian Historical Society on Springfield Ave. is housed in the former library building, which is one of the Village's early schoolhouses. The Society archives and maintains documents, photographs and artifacts of Midlothian's past, many of which have been donated by area residents. It also maintains a scrapbook of histories written by Midlothian residents, recalling events and Village life as early as 1898. Society volunteers regularly update and add to exhibits which depict Midlothian's rich history and demonstrate its progress.

The Society also has several ongoing projects, one of which is gathering photos and documenting facts about residents' homes. Donations of any historic items are always welcomed, for current or planned future projects.

The Midlothian Historical Society is open 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month (except holidays). Private tours are available at other times for groups of 10 or more. The Society meets the fourth Monday evening of each month at 7:30 p.m.; call 385-6375 for more information.

The Midlothian Fine Arts Association supports local armies with talents in a variety of media and welcomes all - artists as well as those interested in the fine arts - to join. Association members are given the opportunities to display their artwork and/or work-in-progress in the art room of the Midlothian Historical Society. The Association sponsors ongoing weekly drawing and painting workshops for members of all skill levels and is always looking for more artists and patrons of the fine arts.
